Please watch me on video! I am a stunner you know! I'm quite big for a lady apparently, not that I'm fat and I really don't look my age because I do look after my beautifully soft silky coat. Despite being wary of you at first I do come round...and enjoy a good rub and stroke! I was asked to pose but I'm a cat and I'll do what I want but don't I look beautiful and youthful? I may let them take a video of me playing my favourite computer game so watch this space!

Foster update 16/2/12:
As far as I can see since the loss of Squeak there has been no detrimental effect on her health, in fact if anything she's started to blossom. She's become more affectionate and playful than ever and whilst her fur plucking has reduced it may never stop. The lameness has now completely cleared up.

Update Jan:
Blackie is doing fine, she coped very well over the Christmas break with all our visitors and she doesn't appear to be missing Squeek at all. She has become quite friendly and playful recently.

Important update 16th December:
Sadly, the vets have confirmed that Squeak has an agressive cancer. So, he must be euthanised to end his suffering as it is the kindest thing to let him go.
Blackie will be closely monitored during this difficult time.

Blackie

Blackie (mother) and Squeak (son) were signed over as sadly the owner died in the flat
and it was a while before the body was found. No family member/ friends could take them.
They spent all their lives together and were very timid and nervous cats but have improved.
We are looking for owners experienced with rescued cats as initially she is likely to be
very timid in the new home, you will need plenty of patience and understanding.

Unfortunately Blackie has developed an issue with one of her eyes, her eye became cloudy and swollen. She has been on steroid anti-inflammatory drops since mid-March and this has reduced the swelling so we are hoping this is a simple infection and can be treated. Blackie is being closely monitored so fingers crossed all will be cleared soon! We would not adopt Blackie out without knowing the cause but please do not let his put you off, cats pick up all sorts of illnesses at all ages so this has nothing to do with her being an older lady.

Blackie is a very special cat that really does deserve to be noticed.

So please read on and don’t flick to the other cats, please give her a chance!

Both had been kept in a flat with no access to the outdoors their entire lives so she can
be rehomed as a house cat but we’d love for her in time to enjoy the garden.
This will take time as she could never be let out for several months.

Whilst an older lady this is not evident in her at all.
She is very mild mannered, has a wonderful temperament and despite my attempts to tease
her she has never bitten or scratched anyone. She has a beautiful shiny black coat in
wonderful condition that is lovely to touch. She is a bit of a coward though, whilst
playing with her she waits for the stuffed mouse to turn its back before she attacks
it and will wait for the very last minute before pouncing on a bit of string.

She has a good appetite and will gladly share her views with you if she thinks its feeding time.

She has been on Feliway plug in to help with her fur pulling which comes and goes and this has
also been seen by a vet.

Whilst it has taken several months Blackie has started to enjoy attention from us and will now
come to us for affection. She is much better at coping with visitors and no longer hides when
we have company. She still has a good appetite and will eat pretty much anything we give her.

Blackie needs a child and pet free quiet home with an experienced cat owner.

We hope she will find her forever home soon, she deserves it!

Black is Beautiful!

But sadly black cats are overlooked. It is very sad that black kittens and cats are often overlooked as people choose more 'pretty' colours, this can mean that black cats and kittens can remain with foster carers and in catteries for much longer than is ideal - when what they really need is to be cared for in their own permanent home.

Black cats really are as cute and beautiful as any other and of course the colour of a cats fur has no influence on how friendly and affectionate it is. Pure black cats are very common indeed, we have many that come into our care each year, they all need to be rehomed. So please find it in your heart to look past their colour!
