Update 23rd August: Dem is a very quiet and placid soul and is taking her time getting over the loss of her Dad. Being an ex racer and living the life of luxury since being rescued/retired all those years ago she’s probably completely shell shocked at being back in a kennel environment. But on one of her on-lead walks to Teggs Nose Country Park she met about 15 different dogs, large and small, she either greeted nicely or ignored. Only one dog did she take umbrage to due to being full on in her face. A wonderful older lady; whoever adopts her will be very lucky indeed.
This dear old girl has come into our care because her owner died, it’s a very sad situation for Dem and the relatives who couldn’t keep her. Dem’s owner previously registered her with the RSPCA Home for Life Schemehttp://www.rspca.org.uk/whatwedo/homeforlife
Dem and her Dad were best friends, they went everywhere together, her collar has even been buried with her Dad which simply says it all.
Since his passing a relative said she has hardly left her bed. She is now picking up and hoping that it won’t be long before she has found her forever retirement home, one with no pets and children as she’s been the absolute centre of attention and we want that to continue. We believe she is neutered: relatives don’t recall her ever having a season but we just don’t know. We have had her health checked, microchipped and vaccinated. We don’t have much information about her in her previous home due to the nature of circumstances but she is a very gentle sweet lady who just wants some home comforts again and someone new to love her.
