Duke came in because his owner was in hospital with mental health problems and he was left in the house alone. We wish his previous owner well and we’ll make sure we find Duke a new loving home! He came into Chesterfield RSPCA Centre back in April under a scheme in which we pay for his board and vet fees, but then a foster home with us became free which is good timing as he really started to struggle with kennel life. Hopefully he can find a home where he won’t need to be kennelled for holidays.  Duke has been neutered, micro chipped and vaccinated.

A few words from Duke himself:

Breed – Half Staffy/half teddy bear
Language – Staffy talk
Other animals – no thanks
Small humans – no thanks – I’d rather be on my own
Skills – Kitchen cupboard ninja, paw, sit, show belly
Lead puller – Nope, I just like to cruise along

Hobbies – Chilling on the sofa when on my own and listening to smooth FM, chasing my tail

I’d do anything for….food

Likes – food, having cuddles, food, chewing bones, food, big walks, zoomies, massages, did I mention food?? tummy tickles, watching the tv, squeaky toys, dregs of your brew if left lying around, sleeping

Dislikes – some dogs (not all of them, but some just make me want to bark at them, happy to be the bigger man and walk away though), the hoover, the rain, my own trumps

Duke is looking for a pet free home, he is very playful and full of character and a very bright boy! He walks very well, doesn’t pull at all, listens to instructions. Kennels obviously brought out the worst in him as since being in a home environment he has been much calmer when around other dogs, he is dog selective so hit and miss really, will happily walk past other dogs if they show no interest in him, will bark back if barked at but in the main he just prefers his own space and company! However due to his choosiness a novice dog owner wouldn’t be suitable. He also seems to have quite a repertoire of tricks including roll-over and high five! I’m sure we will discover more. He is quite vocal, appearing to ‘talk’ when playing-typical Staffy speak! He likes to wrestle with the rope and has his squeaky dog toy.
