Arrived 29th July
Fostered in Macclesfield
This gorgeous group of girls came into our care as the person who rescued them from being dumped in the wild only did so to save them, she wasn’t in a position to keep them so contacted us for help. We have had them to our vets to be checked over, no health problems, they just need lots of handling.
Fran (regular ears, black face) – the bold one. She’s already perfectly happy to walk around on my lap and let me stroke her back.
Yvonne (regular ears, white face) – the pretty one. Will come most of the way out of the cage and is very licky.
Molly (dumbo ears, no stripe) – the adorable one. She follows along a few steps behind the other two and is clearly curious about the outside world – just a bit nervous yet. Likes climbing a lot.
Mary Lee (dumbo ears, stripe down back) – the quiet one. Mostly sits in the top of the plastic tube, creepily watching me all evening. Has taken a yoghurt drop from my hand a couple of times but generally just hides if I’m in the room.
They will require a sizeable cage with very narrow spaced bars so they cannot escape. Minimum size accommodation For a group: W96 x D63 x H159cm For pairs: is H70 x D48 x W78cm, however, the bigger the better so they can climb and explore-we can give advice/pics. The flooring/shelving that they walk on must be solid (i.e. not mesh) and there must be plenty of enrichment in their cage, e.g. hammocks, climbing ropes/ladders, houses/huts and opportunities to forage for food, also plenty of time in the evenings out of their cage being handled. We are looking for people who have owned rats before or have done their research. https://www.rspca.org.uk/adviceandwelfare/pets/rodents/rats
