Bubbles Update
Just an update on Bubbles ,he is settling in wonderfully
and now even venturing into the living room on his own
knowing the dog is there.
He is still a little wary of Spot but is coming
on in leaps and
bounds and loves sitting on the back of the sofa and
nodding off watching the rats in their cage ,but has made
no attempt to chase them.
He is eating very well and is perfectly clean
in his toilet.
He really is an absolute joy and so playful and
affectionate
we love him to bits . I have enclosed a few pictures of him
and will keep you updated again soon.

Daisy Update
Just to let you know Dizzie (was Daisy) has settled in really well,
after a
few days of hissing
from Connie they now sleep on the sofa together quite happily!
Dizzie seems to regard Connie as her big sister and runs around after
her wherever she goes -
if Connie isn't around then she follows Sian or I!
Her favourite room in the house is the bathroom as she's fascinated
with water -
running taps, the bath - anything will do!!

Indie Update
Indie (Ernie) has been with Roxy and I for a couple of months now and
has settled in really well, he is a handsome young man and has definitely
found love with Roxy!
I decided to get Indie as Roxy was becoming lonely in the house when
I was not there, and since the minute they met they have got on as if
they
had always been together, i couldn’t have wished for a more suitable
kitten to join us. They were both approx. 6 months old at the time of
them being introduced, they accepted each other well and are now growing
up
and learning together, its a full time hobby just watching them interact
and play with all their toys!
He has a few bad habits, such as trying to get into next doors house
all the time and has even managed to steal their dogs toy and bring
it back home!

Cherry Update
Cherry was found abandoned in a pub which had also been boarded up
so there was no way out for this poor girl!
Thank God she was found in time, she has since been adopted
after recieving lots of TLC in one of our great foster homes.
Here is some news from Cherry's mum:
We have had Cherry for three weeks now and she has fitted in perfectly
with our little family.
She enjoys having the freedom to roam where ever she likes in the house
and settle down for a snooze in a place of her choosing (some of her
locations are top secret as we havn't discovered where they are yet,
she just pops up from no where! ) She plays with our daughter (Cherrys
new sister) lovely as she can now throw the ball for her and the
giggles hysterically when Cherry chases it (great fun to watch)
She spends a lot of time sitting in the window, watching the fish in
the tank and running through her six foot tunnel!
We are really pleased at how well she is house trained (Thanx
Colette)and proud of how she has adapted so quickly in to our home.
Our
family is complete :)

Tyson Update
Tyson came into our care just because he wasn't good with cats.
He was in our kennels but was not at all happy so went into a
foster home with Katie and Cathleen, he was with us a few months
but eventually the right family came along and here are a few
words from them:
Tyson is brill, he's fantastic with the kids and he loves to
hogg my bed lol! When we first met him he was very hyper,
by the time we got him home he was so calm and couchy its
like he's been part of our family forever. Hes just amazing
and we love him to bits. We thought Katie was amazing too,
shes done a fab job with him he's so well behaved we cant
believe our luck.
Thanks again for all your help with us adopting him we
really are lucky.
Luv lisa x

Fudge Update
Fudge has been renamed Pippin (after a very special bunny I hand reared
that was then adopted by my friend)
and is now happily bonded with Polly. We started the bonding on Sunday
2nd October after giving him time to settle in and to get them used
to being swapped over into each other's space, and it went really well.
By the following saturday it was still all positive so I supervised
them together for an extended session and was then able to leave them
together. He is a bit of a sex pest but she takes it all in her stride
and sticks her bum in a corner if she has had enough! That should all
settle down more as his hormones settle, it can take up to 6 months
after neutering for them to settle down fully.
So I now have two "helpers" when I'm
trying to clean them out!
He's a real little character, very active and cheeky, and loves all
the toys. the different levels in the hutch and their wooden den box,
which also has vetbed on top for them to jump up and sit on.
I haven't had much success with photos as they are so active, but I
thought this one of them tucking into a bowl of redigrass and alfalfa
hay together would do to be going on with, and I'll try to get some
more for you over the coming weeks.
Thanks for letting us have him, Polly says thank you too.

Sherbert and Cola Update
Sherbert
and Cola were adopted from our branch
via one of our wonderful
foster homes.
They were callously tied up in a bin bag and dumped on a
country road.
We brought them back to full health and here are a few words
from their new family:
I just wanted to drop you a quick
line to let you know that
the kitties have settled
in really well.
I have attached a couple of pictures of them hard at work.
They were a bit frightened in the car on the way home
but as soon as we let them run
around and get their bearings,
they were really comfortable
straight away.
In fact, it's taken them no time at all to make themselves at home.
They really do have very lovely
personalities. We love playing with them
and the kids really love watching
them running up and down and the 'cat
hotel' was made which is more like
a merecat tunnel really and they love
that. Coco fell down the toilet
(you did warn me!!)
but just wet her tail and
didn't really learn her lesson as she's still jumping up there,
they've both tried to get
into every available cupboard and the dishwasher.
We're all on guard.
We all wanted to say a massive
thank you for your time,
letting us come to your
house and showing us the ropes with them
and letting us have the
supplies.
We're registering them with the vets
now that they're insured
tomorrow.
Will let you know how they get
on -
maybe in a year they'll still be as manic - hopefully so!!

Gizmo Update
We took Gizmo as a foster dog from
another area.
He had been in kennels for quite a while after being taken in as a cruelty
case.
Gizmo had a huge tumour on his leg and a damaged eye.
While we were fostering him Gizmo had the tumour removed
and we gradually nursed him back to health.
We'd adopted an older dog from the RSPCA before so we were used to having
an oldie.
I must confess to being one of the people that didn't like staffies
and was a little apprenhensive when we were asked to foster one.
I thought it would be a good start as a fosterer though
because there would be no way I would want to keep him. How wrong I
was!
After looking after Gizmo for a
couple of months we realised that we couldn't give him up
because he had become one of the family!
He is such an affectionate boy and loves to lay cuddled up to us on
the sofa.
He makes so many noises it's like he's talking to us and he's such good
company.
He goes for walks with his doggy friends and is a very happy old man.
I would have no hesitation in having another staffie
if I was to get another dog in the future.
Gizmo now has a temporary playmate in the form of Bernard,
a 12 year old boxer that we are fostering.
They get on really well and its lovely to see them playing together.
Some people are put off by having
an older dog but there are many advantages.
You don't need to house train them!
They are still very keen to go for walks but inbetween walks they sleep
alot
so they are ideal if you need to leave them for a few hours.
Also if you have an older dog you aren't committing to maybe 15 years
of owning a dog.
Whilst it may mean that the heartache might come sooner than if you
have a puppy,
you are giving an oldie a loving home for the last few years of their
life.
Our previous oldie, Jasper, was with us for 15 months and he was adorable.

Basil Update
Hi to all at Macc RSPCA
A big thank you to all of you especially Carmen
for bringing Basil into our lives
and Lynn for taking very good care of him in his early months
and for the time you took to hand him over.
He has been with us five weeks now
and with every new day he entertains us with some new antic.
His favorite pastime is playing ball, especially at about 5am
and he is a really talented left, right and back footer.
He even carries his toys back upstairs
so he can get the velocity of the downhill staircase all over again!
He is definitely an early bird and attracts
our attention in the morning by tapping us on the nose,
if that doesn't work he takes a running jump
ensuring his landing finds a nice soft tummy,
if we still feign sleep (because we are awake!)
any exposed body part comes under attack.
We've not been late for work recently that's for sure!
When things are a little quieter he likes to take up position in an
upstairs window
to survey all that is around him or relax on an old blanket under a
radiator
(yes I know its summer),
he has not once been found curled up on the new expensive kitty bed
that we purchased in anticipation of his arrival!
We can't believe he is the same shy pussy cat
who hid under the wardrobe for the first few days.
Unfortunately for Basil he showed us his weakness for treats
very early on and this inability to resist meant he didn't stay hidden
for very long!
Saying that there was never any issue with lack of appetite
and I'm sure he has grown already because he really does like his milk
and biscuits!
Somebody else managed to draw him out of his shell and that was Harry
the hamster
who was on a temporary secondment while his family went to Greece.
We initially kept the two separated but the inquisitive nature
of both meant they were soon sharing some close personal space.
Harry, with the protection of bars or a plastic outer ball
was in control and all Basil could do was wonder at his play mates activities.
Harry is safely back home now but what Basil learnt from Harry
is that performing to the audience gets you just what you want!
His first venture out was captured on camera.
We thought after three weeks he would be desperate to make a bid for
freedom
but in true Basil style he took only one step at a time
and settled for a small taste of what was to come.
Of course now he has built up his confidence he can't wait to get out
in the morning
and seek a new adventure although he does like to come back and use
his own loo,
but then don't we all! We have lost two collars so far
and I've just placed an order for three more replacements!
There is a tree branch somewhere
with his beautiful red collars and my contact details.
He is more than content with the jungle at the back of the house
and hasn't been in the slightest bit interested in venturing out the
front
so we are hoping we can keep it that way.
And bless him, one shake of his treats and he comes running back.
Basil now rules the roost and we meet his daily demands
which he communicates to us constantly with his very chatty, squeaky
meow.
He is developing into a very handsome cat and doesn't he know it!
His previous misadventure which led to him being in your care in the
first place
has left him with a very cute wonky tooth which has broken the hearts
of all our friends
and family who have got to know him.
We have attached some photos so you can see what he is up to.
Thanks again for everything,
we have just donated again to your very worthy cause!
Nicky & Carys

Bo Update
Bo was in the pound at just 6-7
weeks old
after a boy saved her from youths kicking her around like a football.
When we have space we do like to help dogs, young and old,
in council pounds that are facing destructions,
Bo was one of those dogs.
Look at her now!

Rosie,
Ruby & Daisy Update
Thought
you
might
like
to
see
some piccies of the girls at home -
Rosie was super adventurous and jumped onto the top of the cupboards
in the utility room and then onto the fridge freezer!
All have been exploring and making themselves at home, eating,
using the litter tray and in the case of Daisy cutting out the middle
man
and drinking straight from the tap!
It's also a myth that Daisy doesn't like playing with toys -
she's already savaged a toy mouse!
We're
madly
in
love
with
them,
thank you,

Rudolph Update
We have
had Rocky (formerly Rudolph) see here
for a little over a year now and we wouldn't be without him.
He is such a mischievous character who keeps us on our toes with his
antics!
He loves to settle down with us in the evening for cuddles and
pampering
and likes nothing more than running around in the park with his
buddies.
It was lovely reading the update on his sister Tess (previously Joy)
and seeing that she is doing so well and still sees Bella (Hope).
We can only hope that Dasher and Dancer have equally happy homes.
Thank you so much for entrusting him to our care.

Barney Update
Barney
came
to
us
via
a
member
of
public
who found him on the streets in very bad condition
and kept him for a few weeks then we took him into one of our
wonderful foster homes
where despite clearly having been abused learnt to trust again,
he was very timid but did come round in time, he was adopted by a
lovely couple
who absolutely adore him and he really has come out of his shell even
more...
just look at these pics of Barney, he has well and truly landed on
his paws!
Just
a
note
to
update
you
on
Barney's
progress. Barney seems to be settling
in well
he shows occasional signs of his past life - such as being comfortable
being stroked
and then suddenly moving away - although over the last week -
this has become less frequent and he is stroked for longer before
finding himself becoming stressed.
The feliway is helping and you can see him becoming more relaxed each
day.
He has been sleeping on our bed - between our feet most nights -
getting off when he gets warm and this morning he noticed when I opened
my eyes
and came up to me cuddling in for a stroke around 6.30 this morning -
wonderful!!
He is now jumping onto the settee in the conservatory next to us when
we sit in there -
although avoids the fur rug on the floor - going round it or jumping
over it to to get to a chair -
I'll send a photo of him on the chair.
He 'takes' me to his room and jumps on the bed in there when he wants a
brush
(all his brushes are kept in there) and he knows he can 'ask' and we
know what he wants -
and he feels safe there. He has found a number of places around the
house where he goes for a nap and -
'we don't know his hidey places'..... for example underneath the duvet
where it sweeps the floor in the back bedroom or our duvet in our
bedroom -
although he also finds our bed a nice place for a nap-
wonder why cats never use the cat beds we buy for them.
If we call him when we come in after being out somewhere he comes
downstairs to greet us
and yesterday he visited my mum's 'flat' - accessed through a door in
the hallway.
He quickly sped through all rooms - four of them and then when he
retraced his steps to go back to base -
he turned first left into the bathroom instead of second left into the
lounge
then through to our hallway. You could see a moment of panic as he
thought
'where am I' but I called him and turned into the lounge and he
followed -
relaxing as he saw where he needed to go - so funny.
Not got very far with the scratching post yet - it is situated at the
end of the bed in his room -
where he goes for brushes -
but he has started to rub his face against it when being brushed so I
might get lucky.
Litter etc have been fine - I got him a closed in one after seeing
yours -
and it has reduced the scatter - as he loves to kick the litter around
doesn't he.
he is an absolute darling and we love him to bits Thank you Liz and
John Shipp
Babs Update
Babs
came
into
RSPCA
care
when
her
owner
sadly
died,
she was fostered but wasn't with us long when a family adopted her,
it came to light after the interview that Babs fosterers knew the
family
well so that was a bonus for us! Here are a few words from them:
We recently adopted Babs and consider ourselves very fortunate
to have her. She is a delightful cat and has settled in really well
with the family. It only took two days for her to feel completely at
home.
A very good natured cat and craves attention which she gets!
Especially good with the children who adore her.
Our only problem is a huge appetite so we manage that carefully.
Here are some photos to show how well she has settled in –
taken over might be more appropriate.
We really appreciated the advice we received and the foster care
she had before we adopted her.
Definately a happy ending!
Best
wishes,
Pete, Brenda, Louise, David and Babs

Oscar Update
Here are some photos of Oscar,
and as you can see he is getting to be very handsome.
He is very mischievous - into anything and everything!!!
He and Daisy(black one) play for hours and hours each day in the
garden,
bouncing around, playing tug, kangaroo boxing, stalking birds,
digging holes and burying his swag!!
When we recieved him off you he was white...now we aren't so sure!!!!!
He loves his rubber ring and his rope tug, he also loves the table leg,
plastic anythings, teddies, any item left lying around, pencils, bits
of paper etc -
if its "stealable" he will steal it!!!!!
He absolutely loves people and other dogs -
he is in training to be an RSPCA collecting dog
(he has got one street collection to his name!!)
He is very well mannered and very well behaved when out and about -
he will sit and wait at kerbs n traffic lights, he will sit and offer
his paw
(he learned this pretty quickly from copying Hector and Daisy).
The next step is to get him used to a tortoise!!!!
He loves to play "invisible dog" on either the sofa or in a vacant bed
(as you will see in some of the photos).
He can always be heard though as he snores that loud - it almost sounds
like a human.
I weighed him a couple of weeks ago and he was 17.8kg - so hes growing
quite well.
He loves his food and anyone elses if left unattended.
It feels like we have had him forever, he is such a loveable little
character
and he has fitted in soooo very well, we all love him so much.
All our friends and family think he is great, and i think Oscar likes
all the attention too!!!
Thank you for all the care and love you gave to him whilst he was in
your care.
Regards:
Liz, Roger, Eleanor and Philip Davis
plus Hector, Daisy and Oscar

Ziggy Update
Today is the first
anniversary we celebrate with our dear little boy, his
first 'gotcha' day!
It is hard to imagine
life without our dear friend now, he has become so
important to us both.
There is nothing like the wonderful greeting we get
when we walk in the
door, a manic wag of the tail and then he rushes off to
find his favourite
toy, his chimpanzee called Bamba Zonke!
He has his health
problems as he has heart failure but he is well controlled
on medication and it
does not seem to upset his quality of life. We still go
for walks but not
quite as far as a year ago and we have some steps for him
to get on the bed now
as he was struggling to jump up at night.
He enjoys a lap to
snuggle up on and is a constant and loyal companion
always, following me
around the house whenever I leave the room. He does
still enjoy the
company of other dogs, even if he has to share me as you can
see!
Thank you for all you
did for him and thank you for letting us enjoy this
time with him.
Best wishes to you all
from
Bill, Jan and Ziggy

Sally Update
It's been a while now since Sally came into our lives
and boy has she made a huge impact.
I thought you'd like the attached photo of her taken by a friend -
she's a devil to photograph because she's all angles and speed!!!!
Our boys are aged 16 - 24 years,
all big macho lads and they are putty in her hands.
They bring their friends round to see her
and I swear we only see as much of them because of her -
we're just the folk who look after her!!!!
I hope you're all keeping well.
I've no doubt that you're busy
but I also hope there are plenty of happy endings like Sally's.
Smiles and thanks for letting us have her, we're very, very
lucky,

Tess (formerly Joy) Update
We have had our
wonderful Tess (formerly Joy)
just over a year now.
She is a
fantastic family pet, loving, always wanting to please and a
great
companion. Tess still sees her sister Bella (formerly Hope) who
lives
nearby, you can see them in the picture below. It’s been great
to see the
reports about the other pups formerly named,
Dasher, Dancer and Rudolph,
We think Tess looks like Dasher and hope all the other
dogs are
still thriving. What a great litter they are, we must thank
Linda and
Barry for the care they gave to our pets whilst they were
with them.
