"We are looking to
recruit some new dog/cat fostering volunteers.
Ideally we’re looking for pet free foster homes in Congleton and
Macclesfield
however we would consider offers from across the branch’s wide
geographical area
(a branch map of all towns we cover is on our website here:
http://www.rspca-macclesfield.org.uk/about.html)
and from homes with existing pets.
Fostering is an
important part of our rehoming programme,
not only are the dogs in a good loving home environment
where they can be assessed much better than when in a stressful kennel
environment
and a better chance of rehabilitation,
it saves the branch a lot of money that can be spent on other
animals in need.
We have been
running this very successful fostering scheme for several years now
and it’s one of the most rewarding roles within the branch;
not only do you provide a warm bed, love, care and safety to a
dog in need
you also benefit from the eventual trust and love in return from them
which is tenfold and you get to see them off to their new loving
forever homes! Knowing you are contributing
to improving animal welfare and the lives of these
unfortunate dogs is one of the best feelings in the world.
Many people do not
realise that the branch is run entirely by volunteers
and does not have their own animal centre.
They rely on private boarding kennels which costs £8.25 a day per
dog.
Fostering entails looking after a dog until a
permanent home is found,
equipment is provided like beds, bedding, toys, collars, leads, bowls
and food.
You need your own transport as vet visits are common (the branch pays
for veterinary care),
a secure garden and ideally you will be open to all breeds
of dogs.
The branch’s main priority is animals that come in via the
Inspectors
that have been abused and badly neglected by humans;
therefore you need to be kind, patient and open minded.
Insurance cover is also provided and in order to confirm
suitability
a questionnaire is completed over the phone and a home visit is done.
If you are
interested in becoming a dog/cat fosterer please contact the branch,
leaving your name and number, on 01625
669620
or you can Email dogs@rspca-macclesfield.org.uk
Email for Cat Fostering
and the
Dog/Cat
Re-homing Co-ordinator will get in touch in due course."
