Roxy

has come into RSPCA because her owner is emigrating to Kuwait
which is not a suitable country for dogs,
so sadly he had to rehome her.

She has been spayed, fully vaccinated, wormed,
 flead and microchipped.

Roxy is quite unusual in that she has a semi-long wavy coat
 which is quite rare
but there is such a thing as long haired Rotties;
she is a full Rottie and absolutely stunning.
She is great with other dogs, she loves to play with them
and her tail never stops wagging,
even at the kennels she was playing with the dogs
that were either side of her through the wire sides of the runs.

With living in the country she was always off lead
and her recall is very good,
she is also good on the lead and travels well.
Roxy has been used to a large spacious home
whereby she had access to the paddock during the day
whilst her owner was out at work,
she even had her own sofa!
She's only really used to rural areas so would not suit a built up or busy area.

"Roxy is a very friendly girl, but can be wary of some strangers,
particularly men, she is not aggressive
but does have problems being introduced to strangers,
we believe it's a combination of nervousness,
 insecurity and protectiveness,
all because she has not been properly socialised by previous owners.
We are trying to invest in a Rottie experienced behaviourist to work with Roxy
in order to improve this.
She will need to be rehomed to an owner
who is willing to visit her few times to bond with her.
We know this will limit her chances of finding a home
but hopefully a true Rottie lover will make the effort for her. "

She is not at all destructive and can be left for a few hours,
she is an obedient dog
who knows various commands, she enjoys being groomed,
loves bones, fruit and ginger biscuits!
By the looks of it she's had a few too many of the latter
so could do with losing a couple of kilos!
She also loves cuddly toys, balls and having a good play.

Roxy is a loving, loyal, giving dog and a joy to have around,
she's great in the home and very well behaved.
Perhaps she'd like a home with another dog for company.
She'd suit a child free home with not cats.

We really hope to find Roxy a forever home with lots of love, nice long walks,
a sofa to share with her owners and lots of space where she can spread out!

Please contact us if you'd like to adopt Roxy,
remember we are looking for a kind and experienced Rottie owner

Foster update:
Connie, who has 30 years experience owning Rottweilers,
is very impressed with Roxy. She said she is such a loving, giving girl who just loves to play,
she adores being with you, she loves bodily contact and will give you a good face wash!
She was wary of Connie at first but the next day Roxy was her best friend.
She is very strong on the lead so we will be using a canny collar
and she is great in the house.

Connie tends to agree with Roxy's previous owner
in that she might be a Rottie X Bearnese Mountain dog,
she's too big to be a Rottie, she has very large paws and similiar mouth shape to a Bearnese,
and the longer hair. Ofcourse we don't know for sure.

Roxy's gone through untold number of rawhide chews and loves sardines!
She's enjoying her grooms and is very well behaved, she's learnt the 'down' command
very quickly too-taught by one of our other volunteers.
Once Roxy is over the initial wary getting to know you bit she is such a gorgeous girl,
she grows on you before you know it, there's something about her
that just makes you love her as we all do.
