Teddy

(previously called Pryer) was brought into the vets after being hit by a car;
it was a hit and run. He was not chipped and wasn't wearing a collar,
however the owner did come forward but lived out of the area,
and he only had Teddy for 3 weeks and was visiting friends when he escaped from the garden.
He couldn't afford the very costly treatment and ongoing care
that Teddy needed so he was signed over to us.
Teddy is being fostered by a retired RSPCA Inspector and her family
who we can't thank enough for helping.

Teddy has fractures to both sides of his pelvis; he couldn't walk and was in a lot of pain.
He stayed in the vets for about a week and had a major operation to insert a plate.

He is not using one of his back legs so this has to be checked in a months time,
his pelvis is healing nicely but there is a risk of his leg not recovering which means
it may need to be amputated but we need to give the pelvis time to heal first.
The vet feels that if we found the right person he can be rehomed before then.
Now that he is getting more little walks he's toileting less in his pen
but may still have accidents.
however he is now allowed to go out for short walks
and he's also carried when taken for long walks with the other resident dogs

Teddy has been micro-chipped, wormed, flead and fully vaccinated.
He will be castrated in due course.

Teddy is a super dog, a real fighter! He is an affectionate little man,
he is good with children and dogs; he has lived with dogs before.
We believe he's a Lakeland Terrier or a cross but he is not a boisterous dog,
even before the accident he was a very chilled out fella.
Teddy cannot be rehomed with cats.
He is not food or toy possessive, he is well trained,
he travels well and ordinarily loves the sofa!

Teddy has the most unusual fur, it consists of extremely tight curls
and feels rough to the touch, it’s rather therapeutic when stroked.
Teddy will make someone a lovely family pet
but of course you will have to be prepared
to give him what he needs until he is fighting fit.
We will assist with vet bills if required for any operations.
