BRANCH VOLUNTEER CO-ORDINATOR

To act as the focal point and first contact for those people wishing to volunteer
to help the branch in any way
This appointment in the branch is normally a committee appointment
and as such requires the person in post to be a paid-up member of the RSPCA,
though in the interim, co-option to the committee,
as a person .pending membership, is a possibility.

The main approach to volunteer is online, via the branch web site,
though verbal and other forms of approach
are used.
Any response to applicants is made, initially by telephone to assess their interest more fully,
let
them know something of the branch and its activities and role, glean further
information on the potential
volunteer and record their details on the branch database -
a specially written Excel-based form filling front
end programme.
This, needless to say, means that ownership of a computer
at home is required along with
broadband for it.
The Volunteer Co-ordinator, mainly through proactive efforts online and at events,

oversees the growth and encouragement of volunteer recruitment.
He or she also interfaces volunteers with
various committee and other branch activists
as needed for various volunteer activities such as fostering,
fundraising, transporting animals, etc.

The branch is looking for an incumbent who can serve for a year at least,
the post being subject to re-
election.at each AGM. The post is voluntary and unpaid.

in the interim. The post calls for the
applicant to give a couple of hours a week of his/her time, working from home, to attend branch. monthly meetings
and generally to be in touch with others in the branch on a 'needs must basis'.

reasons, where much of the communication is via email,

A post which is both demanding and vital to the branch in that being
'self-funding' for all but a small amount
of the costs for receiving, accommodating, caring for and re-homing rescue
and abandoned animals - our
raison d'être under the national banner - must be done 'in-house'.
The role is developing and dynamic as the
committee establishes new directions and structures amongst its volunteers to achieve the best income both.in terms of people availability
and geographical spread to communities within the branch boundary
(See
....."About Us" web page and download branch map).

The successful applicant would be expected to be a paid-up member of the society.
Where this is
not the case, initially he or she would be co-opted to the committee in the interim pending membership conformity.

He or she would be looked at in terms of overseeing fundraising exercises
 and
.providing guidance and expertise to those willing to fundraise in any manner.
The role is less 'hands on' and
rather more conceptual and managerial,
so allowing the fundraising co-ordinator to expand and grow this
essential activity.
