We are a small but active Branch (with no paid staff) that is looking to expand the following areas:
As a Trustee you will be part of a team that is legally responsible for the effective use of the Branch’s resources in accordance with the objects of the National RSPCA and for providing leadership and direction in the planning and decision making process that controls all the affairs of the branch (further details will be given.)
Upon joining, there will be a trial period of six months in order for everyone (including you) to be sure that this is a suitable role for you. Once you have been fully inducted and trained, it is envisaged that you will take on a responsibility within the Branch e.g. a role mentioned below or a role that has arisen to meet a new need.
VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR –
To welcome new volunteers to the Branch, to keep an up-to-date list of volunteering opportunities within the Branch, to work with the other committee members to arrange the recruitment and placement of volunteers and to match what volunteers would like to do to help the Branch with the Branch’s need for volunteer help. You would need to be a Committee member to take on this role.
GENERAL VOLUNTEERS –
Volunteers are the lifeblood of our Branch. No particular skills are required and you will be fully supported. If you wish to help us fundraise at our events you will be given our support and training. Our volunteers can commit as much or as little time as they can spare but will have to agree to be on our confidential database. New ideas and approaches are always welcome and will be considered carefully by the Trustees.
DOG & CAT FOSTERERS –
To provide a suitable, calm and loving home environment (ideally with no existing pets) on a temporary basis for our Branch animals until they are adopted (further details will be given.)
CAMPAIGNS COORDINATOR –
To liaise with the National Society department on all Branch and national campaigns. To ensure that the Branch has sufficient supplies of materials for Branch and national campaigns. To link, where appropriate, to the National Society’s timetable of campaign events. To co-operate with the branch Volunteer Coordinator and Media Coordinator on campaigns using media, posters, leaflets, and local events. You would be required to attend committee meetings if you took on this role.
REGIONAL BOARD REPRESENTATIVE –
To serve on the committee as the Branch contact and representative on the regional board. In addition to the key activities involved in being a committee member, the new incumbent will be required to attend all regional board meetings (currently 3 per year: March, June & September) at which they must have the confidence to convey branch views / opinion (which they have canvassed in advance of the meeting) and vote in the best interests of the Branch with regard to the region as a whole.
If you have the skills/experience and the time required to fulfil any of the positions listed above then we’d love to hear from you.
