Special appeal for a very special boy Herbie…

Herbie was originally transferred from Liverpool RSPCA to our branch in November 2017 for rehoming. Here’s what the staff had to say about him back then: Herbie found himself in our care in August after being found wondering the streets in the most horrific condition we don’t know what happen to him, but his face was badly damaged and his jaw de-gloved and he had to be rushed to a vet where he had emergency surgery. Over the next few weeks in the care of Liverpool RSPCA care while he recovered he has become a favourite with the staff and volunteers. The injuries are indicative of Badger Baiting which is illegal, he either escaped or was dumped because of his injuries. He must have been in so much pain, but he never showed it. He really has a heart of gold and wants nothing more than to spend time with you either on a walk or just chilling out in your company.

Herbie is very friendly social boy with an outgoing nature who enjoys being groomed. Herbie gets on well with other dogs both on and off lead. BUT here’s the thing, Herbie was adopted end of November 2017 but has been brought back to us for rehoming, he was not a problem for several months but something must have changed for Herbie as he started to suffer with Separation anxiety and became choosy where dogs were concerned in the last few weeks. He can go with children 8 years plus. Herbie really is a beautiful boy who needs an experienced Lurcher owner who understands their nature and foibles. He needs a home with a big secure garden so he can run those long legs off when he feels like it! Dogs can behave very differently from one home to another so hopefully with the right new home he’ll be his normal happy self again!

Herbie truly is the dog with the heart of gold who deserves only the best in life
