This is Ethel:

This is Mabel:

These little cuties were born (with 1 other girl adopted by Venus adopter and two boys who are also available for adoption) post adoption by Venus, who was one of the 60-70 rats in extremely poor condition that were dumped in cardboard boxes in Yorkshire. They are very much bonded and need a home together.

They’re still fairly quiet but getting less so every day.  Ethel is slightly more inquisitive than Mabel (with a slightly wider stripe across her head).  Mabel’s a bit quieter, but both of them are very friendly and absolutely fine at being handled.  They get up every few hours for a nibble on their food pebbles, but they LOVE popcorn treats and puling apart monkey nuts to get to the peanuts inside 🙂
We’re litter training them but they’re not quite there with that yet! Here’s a link to their recent photo shoot!

They will require a sizeable cage  with very narrow bars so they cannot escape.  Minimum size accommodation is H70 x D48 x W78cm, however, the bigger the better so they can climb and explore.  The flooring/shelving that they walk on must be solid (i.e. not mesh) and there must be plenty of  enrichment in their cage, e.g. hammocks, climbing ropes/ladders, houses/huts and opportunities to forage for food, also plenty of time in the evenings out of their cage being handled.  If you would like to adopt this pair we will provide further information to you on how the adoption process works. Please click here for Rat Welfare.
